I replaced the motor with one with 100k miles and now the engine has nearly 200k miles on it and I beat on it pretty hard revving it past the 6800 rpm revving it to 7300 .Pauter makes a very nice set of rods for the Beta motor, while there are a few options available for forged low compression pistons such as Wiseco and CP. When the engine is cold, i.e. mornings or after sitting in the parking lot for 8 hours during the day, it takes a little cranking before the engine will start. This has been going on for about a week now and wasn't too bad, except yesterday it would ...Ticking shouldn't really occur but as long as it doesn't start knocking or thudding you shouldn't have to worry about something serious like a rod.
